🥔 Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes
This is classic comfort food—rich, savory ground beef in thick gravy spooned over creamy mashed potatoes. Simple, filling, and budget-friendly.
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4)
For the mashed potatoes:
- 2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½–¾ cup warm milk
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the beef & gravy:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & black pepper
- Optional: mushrooms or peas
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Mashed Potatoes
- Peel and cube potatoes.
- Boil in salted water 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain, mash with butter and warm milk.
- Season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.
2️⃣ Cook the Beef & Gravy
- Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add onion and garlic; cook until soft.
- Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir 1–2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, simmer 5–7 minutes until thick.
- Season to taste.
